Each piece is handmade from a base mold then altered and adorned to give each piece a unique and distinct look. I use stamps, molds and found objects (things that leave great impressions!) to make recessed impressions while the clay is still wet making each individual piece a highly detailed work of art, unique unto itself. I bisque fire everything in my electric kiln, then I hand glaze each one so all the details show clearly, then I dip each piece in a clear glaze and re-fire to cone 10, which means they are durable as well as vibrantly glazed. No two pieces are the same, which gives them unique shapes, texture and glaze colors. The whole process takes several weeks and is completed by one person, me (Tracy).
There may be small dark spots on the back/underside of the pipes, these are from the stilts that I use for firing the pipes. The stilts prevent the pipes from sticking to the kiln shelves.
I use lead free, food safe glazes.
My work is very much organic, perfectly imperfect, random and whimsical! I hope my pieces find others who will enjoy them too!
